On February 4, 2022, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the “Digital Government Support Center” RSE on REM was created, which acts as a methodological and coordinating (think tank) core to support project management processes, reengineer business processes of state bodies, and review draft regulatory legal acts for "digitization".

The Center was established as a result of the reorganization of the "Institute of Applied Mathematics", which was established by the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR No. 564 of September 26, 1991, in Karaganda on the basis of the Department of Applied Mathematics of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.

The organizer and the first director of the Institute of Applied Mathematics was a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor M.O. Otelbaev. Later on, the Institute was headed by such well-known mathematicians as professors T.G. Mustafin, H.J. Khalmanov, E.S. Smailov.
